EVEREST VITESSE
Bruno Brunod takes on the most incredibile and prestigious record: 60 kilometres without oxygen to the roof of the world and back again! A non-stop ascent and descent from the base camp to the peak of Mount Everest's northern face.

The " Everest Vitesse 2005" expedition will begin its ascent from Tibet in mid-April.
The nine member group, including Brunod, was brought together in order to ensure the most effective logistic and organisational assistance possibile. Not only will the project be an ambitious endeavour, it will also be an important medical-scientific study.
The equipe has chosen to climb from the Tibetan side on the northern face which is technically and climatically more difficult than the Nepalese face. The expedition will pass through the legendary and sacred city of Lhasa before crossing 700 kilometers of splendid plateaux which will take the group to the base camp at an altitude of 5150 meters. At this point the real ascent of the mountain will begin . The mountain is estimated to have a positive vertical descent of 3700 meters and a development of 30 kilometers placing Brunod on the top of the highest peak in the world.

Apart from the attempt at a world record and important scientific research, the project is characterised by two particular features:
1. A seasoned support team. The team is made up of experts who have worked with Brunod on other record- setting missions. The importance of a cohesive equipe is an issue that is often overlooked in Himalayan Alpine climbing. In this endeavour a consolidated group is striving to attain an even greater level of cohesion.
2. The athlete and the support team will use a series of original methods regarding athletic preparation, psychology, accident prevention, team integration, and nutrition that they have refined in the course of the earlier record setting missions on the Aconcagua, Kilimanjiaro, and the Alta Via.
